On the wonderful day of June 3rd, my friends and I took a
visit to the Elverhoj Museum in a little Danish town called Solvang in the
Santa Ynez Valley. Solvang is a very
touristy town so I thought I would check out what makes this town special. My friends
and I drove through the town to check
out the museum that covers all of the history of Solvang. The museum was very old looking: It was made
from faded red bricks, and had an extremely classic feel to it. It made me feel
as though I may actually be in Denmark!

This was a great experience for me because I was not only
able to learn about the history of the Danish people who came to settle in
Solvang, but also I was able to witness some amazing art and sculptures that were
made many years ago.

One of my favorite pieces was a combination of different
antique collections of Viking tools that were used many years ago. The piece
included different types of Axe tools that were used for fighting and help
build things many years ago. One thing that was very interesting to me is how
these tools looked. They were not well measured and the blade on them was not
that sharp. This made realize how much more extra effort had to be put in to
use these tools. This shows just how much tools have evolved since the first
time they were made.

Also, I was able to witness a great art piece by an artist
named Nancy Yaki. Even though this was a piece of modern art found in a very
old museum, it was caught my eye due to the great patterns that it had. The
colors were well thought out and it has really nice connection to each lines.
These patterns related to Nano tech, because it has some similarities to DNA,
which I learnt about in this class this year.
Figure 4 : Art by Nancy yaki called "Cooperative Adventure"
This was a great experience for me because it shows me how much
art and history are intertwined how much it has helped the world become a
better place.
